BIOGRAPHY
Tibor Babos is a military officer in the Hungarian Army and researcher presently working for the Office of the Hungarian Military Representative to the NATO and EU in Brussels as the Hungarian Strategic Representative. Since 2008, he has been working as the elected Dean of the Strategic Working Group of the NATO Military Committee by 28 Nations.

He began his military career in 1982 by enrolling in the 1st Military Boarding School in Eger. After finishing the István Dobó Senior High School, concurrently with the Military Boarding School, he continued his military studies in the Lajos Kossuth Military College and became a certified military officer in 1989. He got his first assignment at the 34th László Bercsényi Long Range Reconnaissance Battalion (34th LBLRRB) in Szolnok as a Special Operations Group Commander. Between 1991-92 he participated in operations of the Hungarian Defense Forces in the Balkan Crisis, deploying as the Contingent Commander of the 34th LBLRRB for his last tours of duty. Between 1992-98 he worked for the Hungarian Military Intelligence Office (HMIO) in various HUMINT positions. In 1997, upon Hungary's official invitation to the NATO, he was selected into the Ad Hoc Working Group for the NATO Integration of the MIO coordinating and clarifying HUMINT cooperation and integration issues. In 1998 he was assigned to the Ministry of Defense as the Deputy Head, NATO Relations Branch. Since 2005, he has been serving as the Strategic, Capability and Force Planning Representative at the Office of the Hungarian Military Representative to NATO and EU in Brussels.

Tibor Babos has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Reconnaissance with concentration in Long Range Special Operations and a Bachelor of Science in Military Automotive Engineering from the Lajos Kossuth Military College, Szentendre (1989). He is also a graduate of the Miklós Zrínyi Joint Staff College (1993) and of the Faculty of Strategic Intelligence and Military Diplomacy of the Miklós Zrínyi Military Academy, Budapest (1995). He was awarded two additional Master of Art diplomas in National Security Affairs and in International Security and Civil-Military Relations by the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California (2003). He defended his Ph.D. in 2004 in International Security Affairs with "Summa Cum Laude" at the Miklós Zrínyi National Defense University.

He has participated in different part-time postgraduate studies in the Carleton, Queen’s and York universities in Canada, in the NATO School in Germany and in Galillee College in Israel.

He has written more than 100 publications in English and Hungarian, among them 4 books, 6 book chapters, and various study papers and articles.

He is a visiting professor at the Miklós Zrínyi National Defense University, at the University of Pécs, at the Multilateral Academy, at the Soter College, and at the Budapest Communication College.

Tibor Babos has been a member of the Hungarian Military Parachuting Champion Club since 1991 and has a FAI Free Style Skydiving qualification “C”. He also has been a qualified Dive Master with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) since 1996.

He is fluent in English, Russian and Slovak, intermediate in Spanish.
